ABOUT US
Saint Mark's School is an independent, nonsectarian, coeducational,
elementary school for students in grades kindergarten through eight. The
Saint Mark's community is composed of 380 bright and motivated students,
68 faculty and staff, over 600 alumni, and their many families and
friends. We realize that a diverse community enriches the learning of all
students and promotes global understanding and citizenship. The school's
ten-acre campus is located in a quiet neighborhood in San Rafael,
California.
CURRICULUM
The basic goal of Saint Mark's program is the fullest possible development
of every student. The program emphasizes the mastery of basic academic
disciplines while providing broad exposure to the arts, athletics and
world cultures. Inherent in the program is the development in each child
of the ability to think critically, creatively, independently, and
cooperatively. Also important are the fostering of self-confidence,
sensitivity to and respect for others, a sense of responsibility, and
strong leadership skills. The school's curriculum includes: reading,
vocabulary, literature, composition, grammar, spelling, mathematics,
history, geography and science. Art, music, French (K-8), Spanish (K-8),
physical education, drama, and computers are taught by specialists. The
school works in partnership with families to foster academic success and
personal growth.
